Charlotte Tilbury Magic Concealer & Magic Powder – Review, Swatches, Before & After

Abracadabra! Charlotte Tilbury believes in magic, so she’s putting it into her products.

I’ve been playing with her latest concealer and powder, and I’m ready to share my thoughts.

The Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Liquid Concealer comes in a slim, twist-up tube, with a pointed and fluffy sponge tip. Charlotte had been working on this concealer for five years, with the aim of creating a product that reduces redness, dark circles, pigmentation and crows feet. I applied it with the pointed-tip applicator (a nice shape that made for a precise application) and blended it out with a damp beauty sponge.

Charlotte’s Genius Magic Powder is an under eye and face powder which uses a veggie powder as an alternative to talc. It comes in a jar with a sifter, but what makes this sifter stand out is that only half of it has sifting holes, with the other half having a little shield you can twist around to cover the holes, so you don’t lose any excess product – I really like this packaging, I think it’s so smart and a great way to control how much powder comes out.

Oh man, this concealer is really good. I’m going to make a bold statement, here…..it’s up there with my beloved Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. I know, I know, but I’m seriously impressed with this concealer. It was full coverage, and really did a good job of concealing the blue in my dark circles. It didn’t find any crease lines, even eight hours into wearing it, just a liiiiiittle bit of light “cobbling” just below my lower lashes (when the product moves around and makes a cobblestone road-like pattern). I applied the powder to my under eye as well as down the bridge of my nose and the centre of my forehead. It was really finely milled (no chunks in sight) and felt so light and comfortable when I wore it (so much so that I forgot I was wearing powder).

I’m so into these products! Typically, when I use the Charlotte Tilbury products that I have in my collection (a couple lipsticks and the eyeshadow quad in The Vintage Vamp and Exaggereyes) I use them for special occasions. But the powder and concealer are so functional that I feel comfortable using them every day, with no worry that it’s not enough of a special occasion to wear it. If you’re in the market for a full coverage concealer or a soft loose powder, I’d definitely recommend checking these out.

The product did even out your skin tone. You don’t have under eye circles or crows feet in your before picture so it’s hard to tell if it would work on those. I don’t really have dark circles; I have dark grooves that I can not conceal. I bought IT Bye Bye Under Eye hoping it would help, but it didn’t. I’m at a loss as to what product to use.
