Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter “Molten Rose Gold” – Review, Swatches and Look

I always get excited when there’s a lot of hype around a drugstore highlighter. A highlight with the power of BECCA’s Champagne Pop with a drugstore price point – isn’t that the dream?

I’m late to the party with this one, but it finally found its way to my stash, so why not slather it all over my face?

The Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Rose Gold contains 6.7 g of product, compared to a BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed (my highlighting standard), which contains 7 g of product – pretty close!

It comes in a compact with a clear cap (which I absolutely love – I’m not the biggest fan of opaque packaging – sometimes I like being able to peek at the product inside), with the powder in a squared bullseye print.

This highlighter is such a winner. It’s finely milled, but not tightly pressed and applied really nicely on the top of my cheeks. The formula gives you the choice to apply it with a really light hand to get a more subtle glow or you can go in with a heavy hand (don’t mind if I do), to give off a powerful glow.

I compared this to the Diorskin Nude Air Lumiznizer #002 and the Cover FX Perfect Highlighting Palette in the shade Blossom because the Maybelline shade is somewhere in the middle. A little more golden than Dior and a less pink than Cover FX.

If you’re looking for a good quality drugstore highlight, be sure to stop by the Maybelline section.
