Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick ‘Biscotti’, ‘Rubino’, and ‘Notte’ – Review, Swatches, and Looks

In my New From Stila post a few weeks ago, you saw that Stila released five new shades of their Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks.

I have three of the new shades, and I’m ready to share!  Because sharing is caring.

“Stila’s legendary Stay all Day Liquid Lipstick debuts five fabulous new shades.  Celebrated for its incredible staying power, lightweight feel, and beautiful matte finish, the award-winning formula has been a cult favourite for years among Stila fans and beauty aficionados alike.”

These liquid lipsticks have Vitamin E and Avocado Oil as ingredients, to help combat the dryness that all liquid lipsticks come with.  They also have a sweet cocoa scent.

The applicator is a small, flexible, flattened doe foot applicator.  It is fluffier than your average doe foot applicator, so it holds a fair amount of product.

‘Biscotti’ (Italian for “cookie”) is a chestnut brown with a bit of pink.  At first when I applied it, I thought this was just a straight-up brown, but as I let it set, and stepped back to take a look at my lips with the rest of my face (as opposed to looking at just the lips on their own), I could see how it leaned to be more of a nude pink.  The formula was insanely creamy – in fact, these liquid lipsticks had the creamiest liquid lipstick formula I’ve ever tried.

‘Rubino’ (Italian for “ruby”) is a beautiful blood-orange red.  You might recognize this shade from the holiday mini set.  This shade was noticeably patchy – if I went in for a second layer, the lipstick deepened in colour, so I had to make sure that I applied the shade without missing any spots, to get even pigmentation.

‘Notte’ (Italian for “night”) is a gorgeous vampy mulberry purple.  This shade was such a surprise to me – I expected ‘Biscotti’ to be my favourite shade of the three, but the second I put this one on, I knew it was love.  I’d consider this shade to be the broodier older sister of Anastasia Beverly Hills’ ‘Trust Issues’.  It was slightly patchy, so it took a bit of work and targeted application to acheieve even coverage, but it was worth it….just look at that stunner!  Because it’s so dark, I’d recommend applying this shade with a lip brush, for preciseness.

As far as wear-time, these liquid lipsticks run pretty standard for me.  With some careful light snacking, after 3 hours of wear there was some light fading starting from the centre of my bottom lip.  After 4.5 hours the fading had progressed to the corners of my bottom lip.  And after 6 hours there was enough noticeable fading on my bottom lip to warrant a re-application.

These liquid lipsticks were quite comfortable, by liquid lipstick standards.  It had a teensy bit of tackiness (like 1% tackiness) but not enough to make my lips stick together.  The product felt very light, so much so that a few times I forgot I was even wearing liquid lipstick.

Out of all my liquid lipsticks, I’d place the Stila Stay All Day Liquid lipsticks in my top 5.

You can find the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks ($24 USD/$31 CAD) in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique, Murale, Sephora, & online, and in the USA at Macy’s, Nordstrom, Ulta, and Sephora, & online.
