Revlon PhotoReady Candid Collection, Foundation, Concealer, Setting Powder – Review, Swatches, Before and After

Revlon’s latest creation is the PhotoReady Candid collection.

The Candid collection is Revlon’s first anti-pollution range, formulated with Vitamin E to protect the skin against environmental factors, even including blue light. The collection features the Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation, Candid Antioxidant Concealer and the Candid Anti-Pollution Setting Powder.

The foundation contains 22 ml of product (a little bit less than a standard foundation, which usually includes 30 ml of product). Although it comes in a squeeze bottle, the applicator is a pump (similar concept to the Too Faced Peach Perfect Foundation). When you pump Revlon’s other PhotoReady foundations onto the back of your hand the formula runs, but with the Candid foundation, it keeps its form, like a buttercream. It’s much thicker than the other PhotoReady foundations, but no so thick that it sets before you blend it out on your face. Applying it with a damp Beauty Blender, I achieved medium coverage with a natural finish.

The concealer contains 10 ml of product, with an interestingly shaped doe foot applicator. When looking at the applicator face-on it is shaped like a lightbulb, and it has a bit of a curve when you look at it from the side. I’ve never seen a concealer applicator have this type of shape, but it seemed to work, as it held a satisfactory amount of product. The coverage was interesting because I’m so used to using Tarte’s Shape Tape concealer to achieve full-coverage that I forgot what it was like to not completely cancel out my undereye discolouration. But I was pleasantly surprised with the Revlon concealer. Similar to the foundation, it had a nice natural finish with medium coverage that didn’t feel tacky or paint-like.

The setting powder contains 15 g of product. The packaging includes a shield that you pull back to reveal the sifter (which is great for travelling – it means you won’t open the container to a big powdery mess). The powder was very soft and brushed away easily when I attempted to bake (my version of baking is having the powder sit on my face for all of 2 minutes…..I’m impatient).

Using all three of the products together, I was really happy with the result.

Wearing the foundation in “Ivory” (130), the concealer in “Fair” (005) and the setting powder #001.

Finished look:

I wore the trio of products for 10 hours and was shocked to see that my nose and forehead weren’t oily AT ALL. Like, no blotting required throughout the day! This foundation combined with the concealer and powder is going down in the books as my favourite face collection from Revlon.
