Clarins Fall 2017 Collection – Review, Swatches, and Looks

I fell head over heels when Clarins released their ‘Sunkissed Summer’ 2017 collection (Review HERE).  Those bronze-y, sunrise-like shades made my heart sing.

Well, now that summer is over and fall is in full swing (although I’m afraid that I’ll see snow any day now) Clarins has their fall 2017 collection.

Let’s start out with the face.  The Illuminating Cheek Colour in ‘Golden Pink’ ($33 CAD) looked like my jam in the package.  My favourite type of blush is a soft pink with a golden sheen.

The shade turned out more red on my cheeks than I imagined it would be, but it applied easily and evenly.

Next up is the lip products.  I find the Clarins lipsticks are pretty reliable when it comes to the formula.  The Joli Rouge Lipsticks ($29 CAD) came through in regards to the reliable formula.

The finish for both shades was a glossy sheen with good pigmentation, delivered with a slightly slippery, but smooth application.

‘Deep Red’ doesn’t appear to be very deep at all, but still comes out like a bold boss red.

‘Litchi’ is a fresh, yet soft, fruity pink.

The Lipliner Pencil in ‘Red’ ($26 CAD) application-wise reminded me of the Elizabeth Arden Plump Up Lip Liner (Review HERE).  However, the formula was too sheer.  When I would blend out the product by rubbing/pressing my lips together it seemed to disappear, and blend into nothing-ness.

Last stop is the eyes.  The Ombre Cream-To-Powder Matte Eyeshadows  ($26 CAD) didn’t do it for me.  I didn’t feel very creamy-ness in the pot, it just felt chalky (especially ‘Ivory’).   I had a hard time getting much pigmentation to show up when applying this product with a brush.  You have to use your fingertip and layer it to get the shade that you see in the pot.

I have been quite the little cheerleader for the Clarins 4-Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes.  While they don’t have crazy pigmentation, I still seem to get satisfactory colour payoff, and a nice eye look.

When I do my eye looks I stick to the same eye primer, brushes, and application techniques.  However, with the ‘Forest’ Palette ($45) I immediately got the identical weirdly placed creases on both eyelids, near the inner corner.  Usually if I am to get creases in my eyeshadow it will appear after a few a hours of wear, but these creases appeared after about 5 minutes – weird, right?  That’s enough for me to want say that this specific palette was a no-go for me.
