Clarins Sunkissed Summer 2017 Collection – Review, Swatches, and Looks

Makeup brands release collections several times per year, but I can easily say that my fave launches are holiday and summer collections.  I like holiday releases because I’m a sucker for a festive gift set, and I love summer launches because I am Team Bronzy Glow.

Clarins Sunkissed Summer 2017 Collection is exactly that – warm, golden, and everything that I love about the sunny weather.

Let’s start by talking about the packaging – featuring tropical fruits and plants in amber compacts, the packaging is warm, bright, and fresh.

First up is the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in ‘Pink Grapefruit’ ($20 CAD), one of two new shades in the Instant Light line (the other shade being ‘Juicy Mandarin).  Ingredients include mango, and shea, and it promises 4 hours of hydration.

‘Pink Grapefruit’ is exactly what it claims to be – a light juicy grapefruit shade.  I love the sponge applicator (similar to the applicator on the Too Faced Melted lipsticks), as it makes for an easy, yet precise application, that will keep you from loading on too much product, and will therefore help eliminate stickiness.  It lasted pretty well on my lips, and was indeed moisturizing – in fact, I think this might be my new favourite lip gloss!

Now onto the limited edition products.  The Waterproof Eye Pencils ($27 CAD) come in two hot metallic shades – ‘Gold’ and ‘Copper’.  They are a sharpenable pencil on one side, and blending sponge on the other side.

The 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette ($45 CAD) was the piece that I was most excited for.  It contains a mix of satins and metallics.  It includes four shades: a cream, a light daffodil, an orange, and a bronze.

I find that Clarins eyeshadow quads have an interesting formula.  They aren’t very densely pigmented, yet you still get a decent amount of colour payoff, if you are willing to put in a bit of work.  The orange shadow was definitely the stand-out in the palette – it lent itself nicely to the sunset style look that I was going for.

Wearing the 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette, and the Waterproof Eye Pencil in ‘Copper’.

The Bronzing & Blush Compact ($42 CAD) is quite the eye candy.  It contains a blush as well as 3 bronzers, although the layout of the bronzers is a bit narrow, so it was hard to isolate just one shade with a fluffy bronzing brush – the swirl it is!  If I was able to isolate the bronzers, the lightest shade definitely would have been a good option for my skintone, however, because I had to mix all three, the shade that resulted was too orange for my liking.  But how can you stay mad at something that pretty?
