GLISS Hair Repair Toronto Launch

Last week I was introduced to GLISS, the hair repair line that has the potential to take over my shower.

I have a hard time finding haircare that works with my colour treated hair, so when I saw that GLISS had products products targeted towards colour treated hair, I was pretty pumped. Even though many products out there are safe/made for colour treated hair, the majority of them don’t jive with my hair, so I’m crossing my fingers with GLISS.

If you haven’t heard of GLISS, it’s a haircare range by Schwarzkopf, a brand that I always spot when I visit my hairdresser. Their goal is for you to not resort to cutting your hair – choose repair instead. At the launch I got to check out the new collection, featuring products that cater towards five needs: Ultimate Repair, Ultra Moisture, Color Guard, Oil Nutritive, and Extra Volume.

Upon entering, there was a wall covered in personalized framed drawings of each of the attendees – how cool!

At the event was celebrity hairstylist, Peter Butler. He spoke to us about the GLISS, and we got to hear about some of the celebrities that he’s worked with, like Claire Danes (He’s also worked with Emma Stone, Mariah Carey, Kate Upton, and more).

The hairstylists were nice enough to do my hair – yay! I said that I like braids, curls, waves – whatever! Something fun, because it was my birthday, and I wanted something different and festive. Karima did a great job – she knows her hair!

We also heard from a scientist who told us all about the the science behind the products, like the benefits of liquid keratin. She also invited us to look at a piece of our hair under a microscope, to see if it was damaged. I expected my hair to be fairly rough, but she said that it was looking pretty healthy- not bad for a bottle blonde, right?

The photo above is a super close-up of my hair. Those dark spots are the “medulla”, which she said is like a hair freckle, and is where the natural colour is. I’m just glad that my hair wasn’t all jagged and rough from all of those top buns.

Eeeeeee, I love my drawing! I chose the Color Guard shampoo, conditioner, and express-repair leave-in conditioner, so I’ll check back in a few weeks to share how it works for me.
