MAKE UP FOR EVER Water Blend Face & Body Foundation ‘Y215’, ‘R240’ – Review, Swatches, Before & After

MAKE UP FOR EVER has been killing the makeup game lately.  The Aqua XL liners (review HERE), and the Artist Rouge lipsticks (Reviews HERE and HERE) were big hits in my book.

But does the new Water Blend foundation live up to its predecessors?

MAKE UP FOR EVER marries the comfort and natural looking results of a sheer foundation with the performance that pro makeup artists demand in the new WATER BLEND Foundation. It delivers the flawless, dewy finish of enviable bare skin in a lightweight, sheer, buildable formula, then sets, transfer-proof and waterproof, for long-lasting, perfectly beautiful skin.

Comprised of 80% pro-vitamin B5 infused water, WATER BLEND maintains the skin’s hydration and blends smoothly for light coverage with a natural glow. Coated micro-fine pigments even skin tone and deliver long-lasting, waterproof, transfer-proof finish in one stroke. The result? Skin looks smooth, healthy and flawless, with no touch-ups required.

The Water Blend foundation comes in a translucent glass bottle with a pump applicator.  Each bottle contains 50 ml of product.  It’s available in 20 shades, and is said to be suitable for all skin types.

I mixed together two colours (one was more yellow-toned, and one was more rosy-toned) when applying.  I applied a mixture of one pump of ‘Y215’ and one pump of ‘R240’ all over my face, twice (two layers) – so together that would be two pumps of each colour.

One thing that I must mention first (that was even mentioned on the box), was that you need to give these bottles a good shake before you use them.  Really aggressive shakes – get jiggy with it!

I would say that this foundation gives light coverage, but if you apply a few layers, you might be able to achieve medium coverage.  I applied 2 layers, because 1 layer wasn’t noticeable enough for me.  This foundation did have quite the strong scent.  It was very floral, and the scent stayed around for a while, but eventually faded away.  But it was a bit too strong for my liking.

My favourite thing about this foundation is definitely the way it made my skin feel.  During application, it made my skin feel cool and refreshed, and while wearing, it felt super light.

I’d pull out this foundation on days where I don’t need a lot of coverage, but just want to even out my skin tone a little bit (but still let my freckles peek through).

You can find the MAKE UP FOR EVER Water Blend Face & Body Foundation for $54.00 CAD, exclusively at Sephora.
