Yazbukey for Shu Uemura Launch #YazforShu

Ooooh, I couldn’t wait to share the details about this event with you!  It only happened 2 days ago, but it was so colourful and fun that I just HAD to put it up right away.

I was pretty excited for this launch.  I’m a big sucker for packaging, and anyone who knows me knows that I have a slight obsession with lips – so much so that when I was invited, my first thought was “Which of my seven “sequined lips” tops should I wear?!?!” – Sophie’s Choice, am I right?  And let’s be honest – the lips on the packaging look like they’re saying “SHAWNAAAAA!”  I was beyond pumped to attend.  So I planned out my outfit & my nails, packed my camera, and was ready for a fab launch.

I walked in and everything looked fantastic fantastic – fresh, colourful, vibrant, and fun.  I was greeted by the Pro Makeup Artist for Shu Uemura, Ludovic, as well as the PR team.  I said hello to some fellow beauty bloggers, whose blogs I follow religiously, and then gave a big hug to the man, the legend, Dave Lackie.  We all sat down, chatted over coffee, and took lots of photos, before the breakfast & presentation began.

Each year Shu Uemura teams up with one artist, and collaborates to create new products.  This year, they partnered with designer Yaz Bukey.  We got to hear Yaz and Shu Uemura Pro Makeup Artist Ludovic, tell us all about the details of the new products, the inspiration, and the back story behind the concept (Did you know that the red lipstick to a year to perfect?).

Yazbukey likes to look at her designs like a movie director – she likes to create distinct characters, each with their own personality.  The concept behind the new products is a story about four women who all fall in love with the same man, Mr. Shu Shu –  who will cross the finish line to Mr. Shu Shu first, and be the belle of the ball?

Ludovic, and Yazbukey invited the “Yazettes” to the enter the room, to bring the story to life.

The cast includes:

“Sexy Yaz” – born into the Ottoman royal family, and the mastermind behind her namesake jewelry brand, this life of the party has a signature feminine yet edgy taste.

“Smart Lola” – this British lawyer is a well off noble-blooded ivy league school graduate, who’s understated style is an inspiration to all.

“Romantic Betty” – a popular and charming actress, who exudes positive California vibes & lives life to the fullest, and loves to dress up old-Hollywood style.

“Daring Tina” – a worldly and charismatic fashion editor of a magazine, who looks stunning in avant-garde fashion.

Embracing the different characteristics of the cast is a way for women to be inspired to become the women they want to be.

After the presentation, Yaz and Ludovic spent time at both tables, to answer all of our burning questions.  Here are some more photos from the event.

What a fun morning!  It was so cool talking to Ludovic about France, chatting lipstick and practicing my posing with Yaz Bukey, hearing all about the brand from the Shu Uemura PR team, and getting to relax and have a lovely breakfast with Dave and the other bloggers.  Thank you so much to Yaz Bukey, Ludovic, Dave Lackie, and everyone from Shu Uemura, for having me!
