Hard Candy Fox in a Box Highlighter “Glamour Girl” – Review, Swatches and Look

Hard Candy’s “Fox in a Box” blushes, bronzers and highlighters usually come in….wait for it…..a big box (similar to Benefit’s blushes, bronzers and highlights). It isn’t ideal for storage and they’re just so big that I can’t justify buying them because I know there’s no way I’ll actually finish the product. While Benefit has made minis (I absolutely adore my mini Galifornia blush), up until now I haven’t come across mini versions of Hard Candy’s “Fox in a Box” products…..but that all changes today!

For the holidays, Hard Candy has made a few mini versions, putting them into the “stocking stuffers” category.

I found the pineapple-scented mini Hard Candy Fox in a Box Highlighter in Glamour Girl in a U.S. Walmart – it was only a dollar! There were only three available at both locations I visited (I believe there was also a chocolate-scented bronzer and a strawberry-scented blush).

The marbled highlight contains 6 g of product, which is a pretty sizeable amount for such a low price. The scent smelled kind of off and artificial in the compact, but when I applied it, it was much more light and afterthought-like.

I applied it to the tops of my cheeks like I normally do, with a Morphe M501 brush.

This highlight really didn’t do it for me. It’s no secret that I enjoy a powerful highlight, but this one was barely visible. I layered on the product four times but was only able to achieve a super minimal glow. Taking a photo with studio lights really made the highlight come out, but away from the lights, there was barely any sheen and pretty much no glow. So, with that being said, while this highlighter definitely isn’t for me, I think it will work for people that just want the slightest bit of glow.
