Drugstore vs. High-End: Battle of the Highlighting Drops

I’m a big fan of finding drugstore dupes for high-end products. When I first started experimenting with makeup, finding a more affordable alternative to high-end products was my number one mission.

So that’s what I’m doing today – I’m comparing drugstore glow drops to the OG highlighting drops.

Today’s face-off: L’Oréal True Match Lumi Glow Amour Glow Boosting Drops in Daybreak vs. Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Celestial. My first thought was to compare the L’Oreal drops to the Cover FX drops in the shade Blossom because they’re both pink, however, Blossom was significantly more rosy than L’Oreal, so I decided to go with Celestial.

While both these products can be mixed in with primer, or foundation, I compared these as straight-up cheek highlights. Once blended out, both shades come out to a pearly glow. The only main difference is that the Cover FX is more of a metallic finish and is a bit more intense, while the L’Oréal drops come out to an ever-so-slightly more subdued finish.

While I like my beauty battles to have a clear winner, I think both of these are great highlighting drop options. They aren’t exact dupes, because the finish they each deliver serves different purposes. If you’re looking for a flashier highlight, I’d say go with Cover FX. However, if you aren’t looking for a metallic finish, L’Oréal is a great choice.
