First MAKE UP FOR EVER came out with their Water Blend Foundation (review HERE). Now Estée Lauder has their own version!
Meet the new baby from the Estée Lauder Double Wear family.
The Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup ($42 USD/$48 CAD) is a light weight foundation, with SPF 30, and hydrating ingredients like watermelon, lychee seed, and apple.
As far as packing, it is similar to the Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup. They both contain 30 mL of product, and both come in a cloudy glass bottle. Please note that both bottles come with a twsitable cap, although I purchased a Clinique pump top to put on my Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation for easy application.
A huge tip when using this foundation is to shake it well…and then shake some more. You really want to blend the product before applying. The people at Estée Lauder they said that the bottle has an open spout because you are supposed to put your finger to cover the spout, hold the base with your thumb, and shake. The amount of product left on your finger tip is enough for one application (although I found that this was not the case with me, as I needed to do this 6 times to cover my face). A tip from yours truly is that when you take off the cap you might see a bubble of product covering the spout – please pop it with your finger instead of doing what I did, which was tap the bottle onto the table to pop it – that resulted in a foundation eruption that went all over my fancy lights and brand new backdrop (this is why I can’t have nice things!)
Because the foundation is light coverage I used my Royal & Langnickel large paddle brush (the mermaid brush from this haul). I find that it eats up the least amount of product, when compared to a buffing brush, or a Beauty Blender.
Usually my #1 need for foundation is coverage, which this foundation does not offer too much of – it gives light to medium coverage. But I actually loved it! It evened out my skintone, and covered up my problem areas (scarring and redness around my nose and chin), while still letting my freckles peek through. It lasted all day, and felt “barely there” the entire time.
When I do foundation reviews I do a before & after shot, but I’m going to start doing a “finished product” photo that shows the whole look, finished off with concealer, blush, bronzer, etc. So here it is!
