As my lipstick collection has grown over the past few years, my favourite type of post has quickly become lip swatch posts. But when I’m swatching an entire collection in one sitting, my lips can really go through the ringer.
These are the products that you’ll find attached to my hip, during a lipstick swatch-fest.
Easily my most tried and true product, Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil is my all-time fave lip balm. The pomegranate one is just right – not too thin, not too thick, not too greasy, and not too stiff. I have a Burt’s Bees lip balm on my desk, in my purse, in the washroom, and in my backpack at any given moment. I apply it about 5 times a day, just by habit, and it keeps my lips moisturized and soft.
In the days leading up to my lip swatch-fest, I’ll prep my lips by using the Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant. It has a minty scent, and gently exfoliates away any dead skin using sugar crystals.
The Sigma L06 Precise Lip Line Brush is a must-have when it comes to applying liquid lipsticks. Especially on lip swatch posts, where you get a close-up of my lips and can see any uneven lines, this brush is great for making a smooth and precise line.
When my afternoon consists of putting on and taking off lipsticks, you’ll find the Milani Keep It Clean Longwear Lip Color Remover (review HERE) close by. Especially on hard-to-remove lipsticks, this remover breaks down the product, so I can wipe it away with cleaner results than I would get with a remover wipe.
And after trying on anywhere from a half dozen to twenty lipsticks, nothing feels better than popping on some Too Faced Sweet Peach Creamy Peach Oil Lip Gloss (review HERE). It smells delicious, and instantly soothes that “my lips are on fire” feeling. The gloss melts into my lips to hug all those chapped spots, and the oils moisturize and revive my pout.
