MAC has collaborated with Caitlyn Jenner, once again. During their first collab, in April 2016, MAC and Caitlyn created the lipstick ‘Finally Free’, a mid-tone rosy nude.
Now they’re back with a 15-piece collection, and I have a few of those pieces to share with you.
This message from this collection is “All ages, all races, and all sexes.”, so I expected to see a lot of neutrals, and universally flattering shades. The packaging is gold (Fitting for an Olympic gold medalist), with black accents.
The first piece I have is the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in ‘Compassion’ ($33 USD/$38 CAD), a cool brown, with a gold shimmer.
I found that the best way for someone like me (with a very fair skintone) was to use it as as bronzer. I used a fluffy bronzing blush to bronze the perimeter of my face, but I did find that there was a fair amount of kick-up that fell into the sides of the compact, when doing this.
Next up is the Lip Pencil in ‘Whirl’ ($17.50 USD/$21 CAD).
This collection includes two lip pencils – ‘Whirl’, and ‘Soar’. I imagine that these two shades (which are re-promotes) were included in the collection as a nod to Caitlyn’s Daughter, Kylie Jenner, who famously uses these two shades as lipsticks. ‘Whirl’ is a dirty rose, that is meant to be used as a lip liner, but is widely used as an all-over lipstick (which I also did, to really show off the shade), even though using it as a lipstick is quite drying to the lips.
‘Authentic Red’ ($17 USD/$21 CAD) is a is a deep red, with a shiny cremesheen finish.
It was creamy and very comfortable to wear, however because of the creamy formula, it required a bit of clean-up around the edges. I’d recommend wearing this shade with lip liner.
The MAC Caitlyn Jenner collection is available at MAC counters and online now.
