Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Shimmering Sculpting Powder ‘001’ – Review Swatches

Ever since Dior released their Spring 2016 Glowing Gardens collection, I had been fawning over their highlighter.  I was really hoping that they would continue including highlighting powders in the future collections.  Well, my wish came true!

This is the Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Shimmering Sculpting Powder in ‘001’ from the Fall 2016 Skyline Collection.

“A powder as light as a breeze, featuring a formula highlighy concentrated with illuminating pigments in a universal shade that can be adapted to any skintone.  Applied in gentle touches, it highlights areas of the face to catch and reflect the light, with its virtually imperceptible texture, Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer reveals glowing skin for a radiantly luminous complexion.  Use a small amount of an overall radiant look.  For strobing effect, highlight key face areas.  Backstage Peter Philips enhances and fixes the strobing result by using the Shimmering Powder on top of the shimmering light texture of DiorBlush Light and Contour.”

The Luminizer comes in a reflective compact, with a quilted design.  The compact has a magnetic closure, 6 g of product, as well as a mirror, so you can bring it with you and apply it whenever you want.  It also comes with a small kabuki brush, and a velvety pouch.

I would describe the colour of this highlighter as a champagne nude with a hint of pink in the compact, and when worn on the face it gives of a peachy golden glow.

Compared to other higlighters, I would say that ‘001’ is most similar to Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in ‘Champagne Pop’, however, ‘Champagne Pop’ is much more peach-y toned, while ‘001’ is slightly more pink toned.

Also wearing Dior Skyline Eyeshadow Palette 806 ‘Capital Of Light’ (review HERE)

In the photo above I wore the highlighter on the very tops of my cheeks (but not on my browbone – that glow is from the ‘Capital Of Light’ palette).

I had a hard time applying the product with the provided brush.  When I swirled it around then looked at the brush, it looked like it only picked up a few chunkier pieces of glitter.  Then I went in with my large fan brush, and found the same issue.  I thought that there maybe be a coating on the top layer, so I swirled my fingers around in the product to try to wipe it away.  But lo and behold, after swirling my finger – BAM!  Product.  So I applied it with my fingers, then dusted a bit more on with my large fan brush, for a more diffused look.  If I were to improve this product, I would want to make the powder more finely milled, so it can pick up more easily on a brush, which would make for an easier and more natural application.

You can find Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer Shimmering Sculpting Powder 001 for $68.00 at Dior Counters, starting August 2016.
