Fall is almost upon us – can you believe it?
Don’t be sad that summer is over, because fall weather equals fall makeup! Dior is kicking off the season with their Skyline Fall 2016 line.
Dior’s Skyline look is designed by Peter Philips, the Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup.
He celebrates the Dior woman driven to experiment and achieve perfection in masterfully shaping her features. She seeks to enliven her eyes with autumnal hues of frosted beiges, reddened browns, coppery pinks, and champagne shades that embrace mettallic accents.
The Skyline collection draws inspiration from the architecture of the Eiffel Tower, which can be seen in the lace-like print in the eyeshadow palettes.
The first of the two limited edition palettes is 806 ‘Capital Of Light’. It contains a metallic taupe-y brown, a silver-y white, rich maroon, champagne beige, and rosy pink.
I blended the taupe-y brown into my crease, put the pink all over my lid. Then I took the maroon into the very outer corner and blended it into my crease (I had an especially hard time with this colour – it fanned out and went everywhere). I finished the look by putting the silver-y white on my browbone,

The second of the two limited edition palettes is 506 ‘Parisian Sky’. It contains a shimmery caramel, a golden daffodil yellow, an espresso brown, a blue-silver, and a frosty mint green.
I started by blending the caramel colour into my crease. Then I put the mint all over my lid, and the espresso into the outer corner of my lid. Finally, I applied the daffodil yellow onto my browbone, and topped off the took by putting the silver around the inner corner of my eye.

I absolutely love the look of these palettes. The Eiffel Tower style embossing makes it very pleasing to the eyes, and gives me all the “Ooooohs” and “Aaaaaahs”. It was definitely hard to make that first dip into the product.
As far as pigmentation, these palettes are more pigmented than Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes that I have tried in the past (Review of the Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palettes HERE). They were much easier to swatch with my finger, however, they still required more work to pick up the product with a brush. When applying to my eyes with a brush, I found that I still needed a few layers of shadow to get the colours to really pop. It’s a bit tricky to see in the arm swatch photos, but the shadows all have a beautiful metallic finish, which I really enjoy.
Normally I’m someone who gravitates towards the nude-y pink palettes, so immediately I thought that ‘Capital Of Light’ would be my favourite of the two. However, I really liked how ‘Parisian Sky’ used silver and mint (two colours that I don’t normally wear) – I’m really digging the look that I was able to achieve.
The limited edition Dior Skyline 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes are $73 CAD each, and can be found starting August 2016 at Dior Counters, while quantities last.
