Essence Soft Touch Mousse ’01 Matt Sand’ and ’07 Matt Nude’ – Review, Swatches, Before & After

I’m back with another foundation review!  I’ve grown to love doing foundation reviews because I really like seeing the coverage from the before & after pictures.

I’m reviewing the Essence Soft Touch Mousse foundation.

This foundation could be Essence’s answer to Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse Foundation (the very first foundation to ever match my skintone).  Like Maybelline, the Soft Touch Mousse comes in a round jar, and contains a mousse formula.  Unlike Maybelline, which contains 0.64 oz, the Essence mousse contains 0.56 oz of product.

Like the names of the colours suggest, this foundation dries to a matte finish.  I tried ’01 Matt Sand’, and applied it with a stipple brush.

I was a bit nervous to use this foundation, because even though it worked quite well for some of my fellow bloggers, the last foundation that Essence released really oxidized on me (review HERE).  Not only did the Soft Touch Mousse not oxidize on me, it actually felt quite nice to wear.  It provides light to medium coverage.  The only issue that I had with this foundation was the shade range.  My skintone is usually the lightest colour available (2nd lightest on a good day), however even the lightest colour available was too dark for me, which can be seen in the photo above.  I’d say that this foundation is worth a shot, if you have a warmer skintone, and require only a light coverage.

What’s your go-to foundation for the summer?  I need some suggestions!
