Colourpop Matte X Lippie Stix in ‘Back Up’ – Review and Swatches

Like every other beauty lover, I was glued to the Colourpop website when they had their 20% off promotion.

I grabbed a few things (mostly 5 different shades of the same colour of liquid lipstick), but this one was definitely a stand out.

This is ‘Back Up’, one of the new Colourpop Matte X Lippie Stix.  I don’t own many lippie stix (I used to own 3, then one decided to jump out of my purse when I went out for tacos), but ‘Back Up’ is making me want to load up.

The formula on this one is just gorgeous.  It was pretty comfortable, and I was so impressed by how highly saturated the colour was.  Very pigmented (we’re talking great coverage in one swipe).  I was very surprised at how the Matte X formula looked once it set, after 10 minutes – it looked like I was wearing a liquid lipstick.  What I mean by that is that sometimes lipsticks will just sit on top of your lips, but this one really absorbed into my lips.  Once it was completely set, it was like 98% transfer-proof (it left the faintest mark on my hand).

It is important to note, that like many lipsticks, when I wore it for a little while, it did turn a bit darker on my lips, but that seems to be a problem that only I face.  In the picture above it is looking quite muted, and even red, but I did find that it was much darker, stronger purple (which is why I compared it to Dose of Colors’ ‘Purple Rain’ – because in person it almost looked THAT purple).

Which Lippie Stix should I grab next?
