Limited Edition Dior Addict Ultra Gloss – Swatch & Review

When I attended the taping of Cityline’s Fashion Friday, we went home with a generous bag of goodies.  The thing that I was most excited about was the makeup (of course).  The first thing that I had to try out, immediately, was the new Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss.

This is the colour #659 ‘Reflected’.

It is a sheer, but shimmery coral-y pink.

The ultra-gloss has a brush tip applicator, as opposed to the usual doefoot applicator, seen on many glosses.  The brush on the applicator is short, which makes for an easier application than a long brush, because it is easier to control.

Review:

Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss was very comfortable to wear, because it was very light.  Usually glosses feel tacky and heavy, but this one did not.  It is supposed to have a plumping effect, but I didn’t feel it – which is great for me, because usually a plumping lip gloss contains a strong peppermint or cinnamon oil, which makes my lips swell up and hurt.  Perhaps this product had a very subtle plumping effect, because it didn’t give me that same painful plumping experience that I have felt in the past.  When I first applied the ultra-gloss, it did not add much colour to my lips, just a shimmer-y almost colour-less sheen.  To capture the colour of the gloss, I would recommend applying 2-3 coats (my swatch was three coats).   I think a good way to wear ‘Reflected’ is to wear one coat for an everyday look (on those days when you don’t know what to wear on your lips), and three coats when you really want to have your lips pop.

Bonus:  Kitty shedding a tear at how pretty the packaging is.
