Makeup Addict Tag

It’s official.  It’s one thing when you give the title to yourself, but when you get tagged to do the tag, there is no question.  I’m a makeup addict – and I love it!  I got tagged on twitter by Jenn from Procrastinating Pretty to do the makeup addict tag, and since I have so much fun doing tags, I couldn’t say no.

The tag has 10 questions, and I’ve got 10 answers for you.

1.  Which product do you still buy more of, despite having plenty in your collection.

Hands, down, not even an argument – nail polish.  The beauty product that started it all, and I still haven’t grown out of it.  I’m afraid (a little bit embarrassed) to count, and tell you how many bottles I have.

Oy.  That’s probably about a third of my stash.

2.  What is the one product you cannot live without.

Lip balm!  I am super picky with lip balm, and only stick with 3 brands. Lip balm is super important, especially in the winter, but year-round I’ll apply my lip balm about 10 times per day.  I have one for my desk, one for my backpack, one for my purse – I try to have one available at a moments notice, whenever I need it.

3.  Favourite makeup brand?

‘Sophie’s Choice’, am I right ladies?  Okay, let’s break this down, since I can’t settle on just one.

My favourite high end brand is Lorac – I only own 3 palettes from the brand, but their shadows apply like buttah!  So smooth, and creamy.  And the brand holds a special place in my heart because it was the first high end beauty product I ever bought.

My favourite drugstore brand, although I love many drugstore brands, would have to be Maybelline, solely based on their lipsticks – they are fantastic!  Especially the creamy matte line.  If I am ever looking for a specific colour of lipstick, I never hesitate to buy it from Maybelline – great quality.  Plus, their Color Tattoo eyeshadow pots come in such a variety of colours – I always look forward to seeing their newest releases.

4.  How big is your makeup collection?

For the average person, it’s quite large, but for a beauty blogger, I’d saaaaaay…..medium?  (I have a problem ride of makeup).

5.  And how do you store it?

I use a Sterilite 7-drawer unit, with small plastic dividers inside the drawers, 2 “melmer’ drawers (you nail polish fans know what I’m talkin’ about), 3 acrylic lipstick drawers, and some dollar store mini storage containers.

6.  How many items of makeup do you have in your handbag at the moment?

No handbag for me, it’s a backpack, and counting beauty-esque items I carry 7 – hand cream, lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, a mirror, a mani kit, and blotting papers.

7.  If you could raid another blogger’s stash, who would it be?

Hmmmm…..I’ll pick 3.  I would want to raid Emily’s stash (from Beauty Broadcast), because my stash is mainly based on her recommendations.  I would also want to raid Chelle’s stash (from Makeup Your Mind) to play with all her Makeup Geek shadows, and force her to teach me her impeccable shadow-applying ways.  And finally I’d like to raid Julie’s stash (from Swatch & Review), so I can see more MAC items in one place than at the actual Mac counter.

8.  How long does your usual makeup routine take, and how many products do you use?

My usual makeup routine can be cut down to about 30 minutes, and if I’m taking my time, can stretch out to an hour.  How many products do I use?  I have a feeling I’ll be a bit embarrassed when I tally this up.  Ok….3 primers for the face (eye, pore minimizer and face primer), 3 brow products (to line, fill in, and gel), 2 concealers (eye and blemish), 1 foundation, 3 shadows, 1 liner, 1 mascara, 1 lip balm, 1 blush, 1 setting spray.  Total – 17 – oh wow *sinks into seat*.

9.  Have you ever bought makeup knowing you wouldn’t use it?

I’m pretty sure I have, although I can’t remember which specific item that was.  But if it’s an item that I don’t have any intention of using, I won’t spend more than like $5.00 on it.

10.  Tag a few other makeup addicts to do this tag.

I tag Laura of Lipstick and Laura, Julie of Swatch & Review, and Jen from Vibrant, Vivacious, Veracious Beauty Blog.  And whoever else feels tickled to do this – TAG, YOU’RE IT!

Loved this tag!! I definitely had to restrain myself on nail polish – I did a big clean and gave away a lot of bottles, which felt great — and now I can't even recall more than a few. 🙂
