Ooooh, do I love these posts! It’s always a highlight when I am one of the lucky twitter followers of Dave Lackie (CityLine Beauty Correspondent and beauty editor), to get chosen to attend his famed ” VIP Twitter Followers Dinner”. This one was celebrating the launch of Shiseido’s #WetForce Sunscreen line, with the latest innovation in sunscreen technology – sunscreen that gets MORE powerful when it gets wet.

I met up with Saribel and Jen (who I met at my first Dave Lackie event, where we had lunch with designer Anna Sui), and we walked over to the event. When we walked in, we were greeted with signature cocktails, leis, and warm hugs from Dave as well as a bunch of familiar faces from previous events. The table was set up beautifully with colourful flowers, and some of the latest sun protection products from Shiseido as centerpieces.
We got to go around the room to different stations. We started with one of the makeup tables (which I ran to singing “I’m hooooome!”), where we got to pick out a Shiseido Lacquer Gloss to try out, and take home.
Jen picked out a rosy pink gloss, and I went with a shimmery peach gloss, #OR303.

Then we went to the table which taught us about the world’s first UV protection technology that gets boosted by water.
We got to see how when soaked in water and then exposed to UV rays, the Shideido sunscreen does not change colour. This means that the protective agent does not wear off in water, and it will continue to block UV rays from passing through – in fact, because it was exposed to water, it gets even more powerful.
Pretty cool, huh?
We then sat down for a dinner filled with delicious food, and great company. I got to chat the night away with some of the other lucky twitter followers, as well as the Vice President of Shideido Canada, Elaine Shigeishi. During dessert Dave and Elaine sat at the head of the table to do an interview, where we got to learn a lot about the brand, and the science behind their new sun protection line. Here are some photos that Jen and I took throughout the night.

It was such a fun night, and of course, Jen and I couldn’t leave without getting our obligatory photo with Dave, featuring Elaine Shigeishi.

I always have THE BEST time at Dave’s events. It’s so much fun to get the inside scoop, and get the same experience that vets of the beauty industry get to have. Big thank you to Dave (who I call my beauty fairy Godfather), Elaine, and all of team Shiseido, who put on a wonderful and unforgettable evening. It was such a pleasure getting to the chance to talk beauty with all of you – every member of team Shiseido, at the event, was funny, friendly, and knew their stuff. Big thank you to everyone who put the night together. And if you want to win giveaways, or attend events like these, be sure to follow @DaveLackie on twitter, read his blog, and subscribe to his newsletter. Enter away, because who knows? You may be a winner!
That’s all for today, friends! Til next time. – Shawna
I love your makeup! Looks like an awesome event! I've been actually looking into the Shiseido sunscreen for awhile at Sephora. That's so cool how it works even wet!
Thank so much, Melanie 🙂 I just posted a #fotd post, with the products I used for this event. I'm really excited to try out the sunscreens when the sun finally comes out. They have one for the body, and a special one, just for the face – pretty cool, right?
