Lip Swatch Saturday – e.l.f. Liquid Lipstick in “Wine Tour” + Mini Review

I usually don’t include a review in my Lip Swatch Saturday posts, but sometimes the occasion calls for it.

This is the e.l.f. Liquid Matte Lipstick in Wine Tour.

I’m going to start this mini review off by noting how big of an e.l.f.cosmetics fan I am. It was very much the gateway brand for me when I started blogging about makeup. To this day, if you look at my brushes or open up a makeup drawer of mine, you will find e.l.f. products (my personal faves are the blushes and the studio “C-shape” eyeshadow brush). All that being said, this liquid lipstick was such a letdown for me. The applicator was great, but oh man, the formula was shockingly bad. Not only was there patchiness that made the lipstick look like I had two different colours on (even when I put on one coat), but the formula was beyond uncomfortable to wear. Even if I wore the thinnest coat of product, after 45 seconds of setting, it felt like I had painted straight-up cement on my lips. The next-level dryness was uncomfortable to wear, and when I had to move my lips to talk it got even worse.

All that being said, this formula will not stop me from buying more e.l.f. products. For all the good experiences I’ve had with their makeup and tools, I’m not going to let one bad one make me swear off the brand as a whole…..I’ll just be steering clear of the liquid matte lipsticks.
