Meet the Rimmel London ‘Shake It Fresh’ Mascara – the mascara that you have to shake like a Polaroid picture.

This mascara promises:

  • Ultra smooth lashes – no clumps
  • Smudge-free volume with every application

All with a patented shaker system that refreshes the volumizing formula, so you have a fresh application experience, from first use to last.

The applicator is a bristle applicator, in a single helix pattern.

I like to divide my mascara effects into two categories; lengthening and volumizing.  I would place the ‘Shake It Fresh’ mascara right in the middle.  Slightly lengthening, and slightly volumizing, but more defining than anything.

The formula was very wet.  I tend to like wet mascaras, but this one was wet and thin which can be a messy combination.  Make sure to apply this mascara slowly, and to not flick the wand away – it can result in teeny tiny mascara splatters around your eyelid.

I do really like the idea of the shaker.  It reminds me of those protein shake bottles that have the little wire ball in it to break up the chunks of protein powder – I’m all for eliminating any opportunity for dry-ness to live within the bottle.

While this mascara wasn’t the be all end all, it still did a fine job of giving my lashes some definition.  While this won’t be the mascara that I reach for when looking for va-va-voom lashes to pair with a cat eye, this can still be of use on the more natural days.
