♫ When I met you in the summer, to my heartbeat sound… ♫
Quo is always on the ball as far as releasing a new collection every season. This is their summer 2017 collection.
The packaging for this line is very tropical – green palm leaves accented with red and yellow flowers. The vibe kind of reminds me of the MAC Juicy Fruit collection – very summer appropriate.
The Quo “Flawless Face 3-Piece Brush Set” ($40 CAD) contains three brushes (foundation brush, powder/bronzer brush, and highlighter brush) in a red bag with yellow trim.
I’m more of a Beauty Blender gal these days, so I didn’t use the flat foundation brush, but if I were using a cream foundation, I would actually reach for the duo-fiber brush (which I believe is intended to be used as a bronzer brush), to stipple the product on. The brush that I really gravitated toward from this set was the highlighter brush (pictured in the middle). I used it to apply my bronzer, and for future use, I think it will be a good size for applying my blush.
The Bronzer Palette ($22 CAD) contains 2 bronzers, 1 highlighter, and a mirror.
Quo’s bronzers have leaned pretty red in the past, but this one didn’t seem as red as previous ones. I blended together the two bronzer shades and applied to the perimeter of my face, and then applied the highlight to the tops of my cheeks. It wasn’t as intense of a highlight as I expected, so it took an extra two layers to show up.
The Quo “Sunset Eyes” palette ($16) contains five shades, as well as a mirror and a double-sided brush. There are three matte shades, and two shimmer shades.
This one was rough. I have found that in the past Quo eyeshadows have been getting slightly better, but this one missed the mark. Starting with the colour selection, three of the five shades were near identical, although one of them had a ton of glitter in it (center shade) – I think this was a missed opportunity to throw in two other shades, maybe a pink or a red. When it came to swatching the product on my arm with my finger, all but the last shade (the brown) took about 5 layers to truly show up on my arm, and when they did they were pretty chalky. When applying the shadows to my eyes with a brush, the two shades on the far right of the palette showed up the easiest, but they were still tough to blend, and sort of went all over, which made it hard to maintain some sort of shape. The remaining three shades were minimally pigmented. The centre glitter shade also had a lot of glittery fallout on my cheeks, so I had to make sure that I cleaned up that are with a makeup wipe. I just don’t think that all the shades in this palette were usable, and out of the ones that were, they were hard to work with and took a lot of layering and clean-up.
