Revlon Selects Review: Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in “Porcelain”

Products in this post were given to On A Chalkboard for review purposes.  All opinions are my own.

A few days ago I received the newest Revlon Selects samples featuring: a nail enamel from their “Chroma Collection”, a nail enamel from their new collection, and a
package of “nail art 3D jewel appliques”.  I was so excited to receive this package and try it out – here are my thoughts on their beige polish

Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in “Porcelain”

I was pretty excited to get my first beige polish.  As far as Revlon’s nail enamel collection, I own about 35 bottles in different colours, and have yet to be disappointed, so I had high hopes.  As well, as an owner of well over 150 bottles of nail polish as a whole, I thought that it was about time I tried out a beige, so that was another reason that I was pretty excited.  But, boy, was I ever disappointed with this one.

My big thing with any nail polish is its opacity.  Personally, the white part of my nails that show when they are long are very white, so I always need a polish that will completely cover them up.  This polish refused to go on opaque.  I’m surprised that they didn’t market this specific colour as a sheer.  This colour was similar to a clear topcoat for at least the first 2 coats, then by the 3rd coat, it became a milky colour, but minimal at that.  I stopped after 3 coats, because after 3 polishes become heavy, thick, and take much longer to dry.  Once any colour began to actually show, it just appeared streaky – another one of my pet peeves polish-wise.

In order to cover up the fact that this particular colour was so weak, I covered it up by using a black for French tips, and made a little design with a dotting tool.

After 3 coats

Pro’s– wider brush than previous Revlon polishes
– dried quickly

Con’s
– barely any colour could be seen
   – by the time it could be seen, it showed visible streaks
– barely any opacity – looked like I was wearing a bad topcoat
   – my score for opacity/coverage – 1/5

Verdict
Save your money, and don’t buy this colour.  This line has a lovely shade of pink called “rose beige” which I would LOVE to try out, and darker beiges that I have yet to try, but do look like they’d show up a bit better – however, I have not tried them myself, so I can’t be totally sure if they are any better.  If you are looking for a good beige nail colour for this summer – I’d suggest skipping Revlon’s “Porcelain”.

Be sure to comment and leave your thoughts on this colour, I’d love to hear from you all.

Stay tuned for my review on the other 2 products I received.
